More Embryonic Stem Cell Insanity

Here we go again with tax payer funded embryonic stem cells..
A stubborn Senate voted Wednesday to ease restrictions on federally funded embryonic stem cell research, ignoring President Bush's threat of a second veto on legislation designed to lead to new medical treatments.
The 63-34 vote was shy of the margin that would be needed to enact the measure over presidential opposition, despite gains made by supporters in last fall's elections.
"Not every day do we have the opportunity to vote to heal the sick," said Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., a senator less than 100 days following a tough 2006 campaign in which the stem cell controversy played a particularly prominent role. "It is a noble cause," she added.

Even as adult stem cells continue to make actual breakthroughs...
Beginning an emotional, political and ethical drama that is widely expected to climax with the second veto of President Bush's presidency, the Senate on Tuesday began a two-day debate over the use of taxpayer dollars for embryonic stem cell research.
The Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act, to be voted on late today or Thursday, would loosen Bush's Aug. 9, 2001, ban on federal funding for research on stem cells isolated from human embryos after that date.

and...
U.S. researchers have isolated cochlear stem cells located in the inner ear, primed for development into ear-related tissue to treat hearing loss.

So why, if Ms. McCaskill Democrat from Missouri truly believes in her “noble cause” to “heal the sick”, is she not demanding public funding of adult stem cells? You know, the type of stem cells that are actually curing diseases and helping people. Why, oh why? Hmmm...
Any ideas, Lefties?
If our true interests are, in fact, healing the sick then why should our tax dollars continue flowing toward a mere ‘possibility’ of future cures when they could instead be funneled towards actual cures today?
I’m waiting for an answer, but I'm not holding my breath.

Concensus

A top hurricane forecaster called Al Gore "a gross alarmist" Friday for making an Oscar-winning documentary about global warming.
"He's one of these guys that preaches the end of the world type of things. I think he's doing a great disservice and he doesn't know what he's talking about"...
...Rather than global warming, Gray believes a recent uptick in strong hurricanes is part of a multi-decade trend of alternating busy and slow periods related to ocean circulation patterns. Contrary to mainstream thinking, Gray believes ocean temperatures are going to drop in the next five to 10 years...
...Kerry Emanuel, an MIT professor who had feuded with Gray over global warming, said Gray has wrongly "dug (his) heels in" even though there is ample evidence that the world is getting hotter.

Total Kaos Presents:

Thursday, April 5th at 6:00 pm CST, Total Kaos with Dave and Glen will interview Eric Beckjord (see info below). This is a MUST LISTEN!

Jon-Erik Beckjord, BA (honors -Tulane),MBA (UC Berk.) , is a managment consultant and also an investigator of anomalous phenomena world-wide, spirit photographer, an adventurer, traveller, lecturer and author. There is a tremendous amount of info, photos, evidence in these sites linked below, and how can Beckjord have done this? He used his MBA skills, Mensa traits, & photographic skills, to go out and go after these mysteries full time, working only to get the next airline ticket, while others decided to raise kids, become middle-managers, watch TV, join Little League, and get early heart attacks. Your webmaster avoided that, is often broke, but he has had a glimpse of the mysterious, and it has been worth it.

Adventure!

Now he shares it with you, and several books will be made form these sites. Letterman,Leno, and Good Morning America all seem to approve and he's been on them all, and more. Now take a look.

This site is dedicated to educating the average public as to the Multiverse, parallel universes to infinity, the new paradigm of advanced theoretical physics, wormholes, blackholes, Dr. Micho Kaku, Dr. Fred Allen Wolf, Dr. Colm Kelleher and 20 others, and how this relates to scientific anomalies. NEW ANSWERS!

More Miracle Cures from Taxpayer Funding of Embryonic Stem Cells!

A British research team led by the world's leading heart surgeon has grown part of a human heart from stem cells for the first time. If animal trials scheduled for later this year prove successful, replacement tissue could be used in transplants for the hundreds of thousands of people suffering from heart disease within three years.

Oh, sorry, my bad. Those damn bone marrow stem cells. Of course, I had to read 10 paragraphs into the story to find that out. An oversight by the journalist, I am sure.
By using chemical and physical nudges, the scientists first coaxed stem cells extracted from bone marrow to grow into heart valve cells.
But I’m sure with just a little more of our money funneled into the type of stem cells that have never cured anything(embryonic, for those who watch The View), we’ll be far on our way to curing every disease known to man.
