Repost(Again)

I am going to repost this every 2 weeks until one of you progressive religion fearing persons steps up and explains to me how you teach history without mentioning religion.

Miss I.: Good morning children. And welcome to General History 101. I am Miss Information and I’ll be your teacher this year at Land of Fruits and Nuts High School. Well, I see we already have a raised hand. Oh, children look its Jimmy, he has just recently transferred from what we refer to as a Red State...Yes, Jimmy?

Jimmy: Miss I., I recently read about a controversy involving the Declaration of Independence...
Miss I.: Hey, whoa there, sport. Don’t know anything about this supposed Declaration you speak of...Let’s just move on...

Jimmy: But...

Miss I.: Children, who thinks Jimmy needs another Ridalin? Let’s move forward. Our lesson today involves a great Italian free thinker, astronomer, mathematician, and physicist Galileo Galilei. You remember Copernicus from last year, I’m sure. Well, Galileo began to teach Copernicus’s theory that the sun was the center of the solar system. This angered some religi.... um, people, uh in Rome. Some guy named Pope Whatchamicallit or other. Children, a Pope is, hmm how can I put this, a guy that dresses in long flowing robes, drinks lots of wine, and never marries...you know like principal Vidmar.
Any way, they tried him because this disagreed with their belief in, uh, well, stuff. And they convicted him and made him promise to abide by their beliefs in...oh geez, well, hmm....Oh, just forget it. Let’s move on to another lesson. OK, I see another hand up..Suzie, you have a question?

Suzie: Miss I, can I have a condom?

Miss I.: Now, sweetie, you know full well where the dispensing machine in the lunchroom is. But, let’s now talk about the Spanish conquistador Hernad Cortes. He went Cuba in the early 1500's. From there he went on to the heartland of Mexico in search of gold and to spread Cathol....whoa, hold on, let’s just say in search of gold. He soon encountered Montezuma, the emperor of the Aztecs. Well, children Cortes was far out manned but was able to defeat the Aztecs, partly because Montezuma believed Cortes to be his god Quezalcoatl...ooops, did I say god, whoopsy, I of course meant cousin Quezalcoatl...on his mothers side...twice removed. You know what, screw it. I Quit!

A Lesson In Competition

For the whole story click here.

‘October 1, 2004 -- Competition between public and privately managed schools in Philadelphia over the past two years has allowed all public school students to benefit from best practices and has led to overall achievement gains for Philadelphia students that are dramatically above the state average. The average test-score gain in Pennsylvania on the 2004 Pennsylvania System of Schools Assessment (PSSA) was five points in reading and six points in math, according to data released by the state Department of Education on August 24. The School District of Philadelphia exceeded those rates, posting average gains of 10 in reading and 10 in math.

The gains achieved in Philadelphia are among the highest of any of the nation's largest school districts, according to the Council of Great City Schools. Moreover, the gains in student achievement occurred in contracted "partner" schools as well as traditional public schools, providing the first substantial evidence that the city's public-private school management experiment, aimed at turning around the district's lowest-performing schools, is working.

Pennsylvania's annual Adequate Yearly Progress report (AYP) showed 160 of Philadelphia's 265 schools met AYP standards in the 2003-2004 school year, up almost three-fold from 58 schools the previous year. Outside management partners run 23 of the city schools making the AYP list.’

Does this possibly mean that competition equals productivity? Hmmm, a good education through our tax dollars?! Interesting idea. You see, just the threat of privatization causes even NEA union teachers to do better. Learning anything Progressives? No? Well, go to Philadelphia, maybe they can teach you how the free market truly works.

They Have All the Answers

I spend much of my day in a dark cloud of confusion. Just ask any progressives I’ve met and they will tell you exactly that. But I have seen the light. Yes, I have found redemption. Finally, I have discovered the greatest step forward in human evolution in the last 20,000 years. And that is, of course, ‘experts’.
They know everything. They are everywhere. Don’t know where the media finds them, but I will find out. I just have to. For they are the key to ultimate knowledge. They are the apple of Eden, the Bhudda’s sitting tree, the guests on The Diane Rhem Show.
With this in mind I contacted an ‘expert’ to clear up some questions that have been bouncing around my skull for awhile:

S&S: Sir, as an ‘expert’, I wonder if you would have some answers to some questions that have been perplexing me as of late...

Expert: Well, yes, of course, that is what I do. You see, I’m an expert.

S&S: Yes, I’m aware of that, as I am of your painful redundancy. But let me ask you this, did global warming truly cause the tsunami disaster?

Expert: Let me first say that there are no stupid questions, just stupid red state deity fearing intolerant red necks. But your question was about the connection between the tsunami and your gas guzzling SUV, I believe.

S&S: Well, not exactly...

Expert: Please don’t interrupt. And the answer is of course, yes, you Americans did cause it. You drive around in your Excursions and your Hummers with nary a care of how your wastefulness affects those less fortunate than you. Those who are damned to live their entire lives on white sand sunny beaches with temperatures sometimes approaching 90 degrees Farenheit.

S&S: Oh my God, I didn’t know.....But, sir, wasn’t the tsunami caused by an earthquake beneath the sea?

Expert: I’m the expert here, young man! And yes it was. But as I’m sure you know, Global Warming causes glaciers to melt. When glaciers melt, their weight is no longer pressing down on mountains and such. And this weight, of course, controls seismic activity. Without it, we a merely sitting ducks on the proverbial pond of death.

S&S: ‘Pond of....’? Um, but this happened in the ocean. There were no glaciers...

Expert: Well, not now there aren’t you fool. Bush has melted them.

S&S: O....K.....let’s move on. Next question. Is it possible, or even safe to appease the Islamic terrorists?

Expert: Interesting, that you would use the label ‘terrorists’ and not something more tolerant like ‘insurgents’, ‘freedom fighters’, or ‘honey, bunny, puppy huggers.’

S&S: “Honey, bunn.....

Expert: Ahem, Mr. Interrupty Pants. And yes it is possible to appease these Muslim heroes. All they want is our understanding, our respect, the downfall of our very way of life, the enslavement of our women, the killing of all our homosexuals, our absolute submission to Allah, and, of course, the killing all Jews within our borders. And really, is that asking all that much?

S&S: Um, and what exactly were you an ‘expert’ of?

Expert: What are you trying to label me? I’m on the New York Times call list, you idiot. Anything else you’d like to know, bumbling fool?

S&S: Sure, why do progressives hate freedom?

Expert: Whaa???? Are you completely insane, man?!? You obviously did not go to public schools...

S&S: Well, thank you...?

Expert: But freedom...of course, we progressives love freedoms. There’s the freedom of choice a woman has over her body...there’s the freedom.....the freedom of...uh.....well, there’s that, anyway.

S&S: So they don’t believe in personal freedom in taxation, retirement, schools, unadulterated practice of religion, freedom from petty government intrusion,.....??

Expert: You know what, I’m out of here. You ask too many damn questions.

Don't Tell the New York Times

It is a sad state of affairs that when I first heard this story, I questioned it’s authenticity. Maybe I’m just too used to all the negativity coming from the media.
Enjoy....from Blackfive: The Paratrooper of Love:

Via Seamus, this email is a thank you from a Marine Gunnery Sergeant in Iraq. It was sent two days ago:

Just wanted to write to you and tell you another story about an experience we had over here.
As you know, I asked for toys for the Iraqi children over here and several people (Americans that support us) sent them over by the box. On each patrol we take through the city, we take as many toys as will fit in our pockets and hand them out as we can. The kids take the toys and run to show them off as if they were worth a million bucks. We are as friendly as we can be to everyone we see, but especially so with the kids. Most of them don't have any idea what is going on and are completely innocent in all of this.
On one such patrol, our lead security vehicle stopped in the middle of the street. This is not normal and is very unsafe, so the following vehicles began to inquire over the radio. The lead vehicle reported a little girl sitting in the road and said she just would not budge. The command vehicle told the lead to simply go around her and to be kind as they did. The street was wide enough to allow this maneuver and so they waved to her as they drove around.
As the vehicles went around her, I soon saw her sitting there and in her arms she was clutching a little bear that we had handed her a few patrols back. Feeling an immediate connection to the girl, I radioed that we were going to stop. The rest of the convoy paused and I got out the make sure she was OK. The little girl looked scared and concerned, but there was a warmth in her eyes toward me. As I knelt down to talk to her, she moved over and pointed to a mine in the road.
Immediately a cordon was set as the Marine convoy assumed a defensive posture around the site. The mine was destroyed in place.
It was the heart of an American that sent that toy. It was the heart of an American that gave that toy to that little girl. It was the heart of an American that protected that convoy from that mine. Sure, she was a little Iraqi girl and she had no knowledge of purple mountain's majesty or fruited plains. It was a heart of acceptance, of tolerance, of peace and grace, even through the inconveniences of conflict that saved that convoy from hitting that mine. Those attributes are what keep Americans hearts beating. She may have no affiliation at all with the United States, but she knows what it is to be brave and if we can continue to support her and her new government, she will know what it is to be free. Isn't that what Americans are, the free and the brave?
If you sent over a toy or a Marine (US Service member) you took part in this. You are a reason that Iraq has to believe in a better future. Thank you so much for supporting us and for supporting our cause over here.
Semper Fi,
Mark
GySgt / USMC’

If that doesn’t warm your heart, you are not an American.

More Than a Handful of Plastique is a Waste

'In response to numerous complaints from women, the government has ordered airport security personnel to avoid touching female passengers between their breasts when performing patdowns.
Security screeners now will keep their hands to the "chest perimeter" of women unless detection equipment picks up the possibility that they are hiding explosives between their breasts.
The new method takes into consideration passenger discomfort while remaining steadfast in mitigating risks, said Transportation Security Administration spokesman Mark Hatfield.’

Just great TSA, now I have two things I need to keep an eye on next time I fly. Men of Arabic descent ages 18 to 35, and women’s breasts...hey, hold on a second....Well, jeez, a very Merry Christmas to you too TSA! And Merry Christmas to you you old savings and loan....

Random Thoughts

Just some random thoughts to lighten your season...

-I’ve done it, I’ve figured out a way to fix social security. Get the liberals to stop killing all the future wage earners. They call them fetuses, I call them my retirement.

-Overheard at Macy’s...
Saleswoman: Sir, I think your wife would just love this for her X-mas present.
Me: Gee, swell, I think you’re right. A very nice Christmas present.
Saleswoman: Yes, the perfect X-mas gift....
Me: Fantastic, I’ll take it. Merry Christmas.
Saleswoman: Super. Now you have a ‘Happy Holiday’!
Me: ARRGGGHHH.

-Ever notice Leftists and peaceniks never verbally attack the truly evil? (In the voice of Andy Rooney) Why is that? Here’s why...because they know they would be in danger if they did. They assault the U.S. because they know it’s safe. They understand that we are a country of justice and their opinions are safely stated here. Just one time I would like just one of them to go to Iran and scream at the top of his/her lungs that Muslim women are treated like dogs. I’m holding my breath.

-A little wisdom...Life is a gift, treat it like one. You are happy when you decide to be. It is not a place, it is an attitude.

-If you don’t listen to Dr. Laura, start. She is the most wise human on the face of the Earth. Give her a week, you’ll be hooked.

-People without dogs scare me. Bet John Wayne Gacy didn’t have a dog. Well, maybe a poodle.

-While I’m thinking about dogs....Does Snoop Doggey Dog have a talent?

-I’ll sign off on this little known fact: Paris Hilton has size 11 feet. Don’t know why, but that strikes me as funny.

Feeding From the Trough

This stinging analogy from Lawrence W. Reed, taken from his post on socialism's hand in the downfall of Rome:

'There's an old story worth retelling about a band of wild hogs which lived along a river in a secluded area of Georgia. These hogs were a stubborn, ornery, independent bunch. They had survived floods, fires, freezes, droughts, hunters, dogs, and everything else. No one thought they could ever be captured.

One day a stranger came into town not far from where the hogs lived and went into the general store. He asked the storekeeper, "Where can I find the hogs? I want to capture them." The storekeeper laughed at such a claim but pointed in the general direction. The stranger left with his one-horse wagon, an ax, and a few sacks of corn.

Two months later he returned, went back to the store, and asked for help to bring the hogs out. He said he had them all penned up in the woods. People were amazed and came from miles around to hear him tell the story of how he did it.

"The first thing I did," the stranger said, "was to clear a small area of the woods with my ax. Then I put some corn in the center of the clearing. At first, none of the hogs would take the corn. Then after a few days, some of the young ones would come out, snatch some corn, and then scamper back into the underbrush. Then the older ones began taking the corn, probably figuring that if they didn't get it, some of the other ones would. Soon they were all eating the corn. They stopped grubbing for acorns and roots on their own.

"About that time, I started building a fence around the clearing, a little higher each day. At the right moment, I built a trap door and sprung it. Naturally, they squealed and hollered when they knew I had them, but I can pen any animal on the face of the earth if I can first get him to depend on me for a free handout!"'

Africans Against American Religious Tyranny

Let me start off by saying I love Christmas. I love the time with family and friends, the food, the lights, the music, the festiveness. Love the hustle, the bustle, the weather, the giving, the receiving. I just love the magic of the season.
But there is that one thing...Like a shadow, every year it waits. Hiding in the dark bowels of December. Evil and black and malignant. I’m sure you have already guessed it by now...it’s that damn song by Band Aid, ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’!
It drives me nuts! My God, is it stupid and inane and annoying!
And here’s why....THE LYRICS MAKE NO SENSE!!!
Take this for example:

'And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime...'

Well, duh...Are we to feel bad because there is no snow in Africa in December? I'd bet the non-parka wearing Kenyans are very appreciative of just that fact. Beyond that, I'm betting there won't be snow in California, Nevada, Arizona, Florida, and 90% of Mexico, either. Will our pity know no bounds?
And how 'bout this:

'(Here's to you) raise a glass for everyone
(Here's to them) underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?'

Um...where do I start. Oh, here's where...'Do they know it's Christmastime at all?'...here's a clue...THEY DON"T CARE! I don't know the exact statistics, but I believe most are probably Muslim or some local tribal religion. They aren't Christians! They wouldn't care if they did know. Got a feeling your average Lybian would probably even spit at you if had the gall to tell him just that fact...infidel!
And what about the fact that 'Band Aid' itself is a photo line up of bad 80's bands. Here's a short list: Bananarama, Culture Club, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Human League, Spandua Ballet....Hmmm, looking back, were we all gay back then? 'Tis the season I guess...let's go don some seasonal apparel...
But besides all that, what right do we even have pushing our religious ideals on other cultures in the first place. Shoot, the secularists, here at home, want every sign of Christmas erased from all public view. Just how long will it be before we need to change that line to 'Do we know it's Christmastime at all?'

Hell In a Handbasket

In a decision hailed by the American Civil Liberties Union, the Washington State Supreme Court ruled concerned parents cannot eavesdrop on their childrens' telephone conversations.
The high court determined a mother in the town of Friday Harbor, Wash., violated the state's Privacy Act when she listened by speakerphone to a conversation between her then-14-year-old daughter and her daughter's boyfriend, prompting the court to reverse the boyfriend's 2000 robbery conviction, the Seattle Times reported.’

Is this the kind of country we want? A country where the courts and the ACLU won’t even let parents parent. Makes you wonder who they think should raise the children. Maybe the same ACLU who is representing the North American Man/Boy Love Association in a lawsuit involving the rape and murder of a young boy?
And a ‘violation’? It is not a 'violation' it is an obligation. If a parent believes their child is heading down the wrong path, it is their obligation to investigate and to intervene. Courts be damned! There is an old saying, “Trust, but verify.” The girl was 14, for God's sakes! The boy 17, a suspect in a purse snatching!
Is there really someone out there who agrees with this insanity? Please comment...so I can destroy you.

I'm Here All Week....

For those of you who are faint of heart, no ‘feelings’ were killed in the writing of this post. But, I am planning on making statements that could offend or insult you, so enter at your own risk....

-Apparently Dick Clark had a small stroke yesterday. His publicist stated Mr. Clark "is recuperating" and that there's ‘no cause for alarm.’ Whew that was close.

-Taking offense is a choice. It is not something brought on by nature like tsunamis or locusts. It is a personal choice. My mother used to say, “Sticks and Stones may break your bones....”. I’m sure yours did too. To take offense at any statement, other than those made to simply intimidate, is childish. If you don’t like Christmas...grow up. If curse words offend you, grow up. If George Bush’s Texas drawl makes you feel the rest of the world hates you, grow up.

-If I could change the physical laws of the universe for one day, here is what I would do...I would destroy every atom, gluon, and subatomic particle used to make up Paris Hilton, Anna Nichole Smith, Michael Moore, and any team that dares to beat the Fighting Illini this college basketball season.

-If you can explain to me how you can teach history without the mention of religion, I’d be interested to hear it. C’mon I know some of you from The Land of Fruits and Nuts(California) could spout it rote.

-Aside to the comment on a recent post wondering if Ann Coulter and I are really the same person...When’s the last time you saw us in the same room at the same time? Hmmm, now there's a thought!

Post Election Wrapup

I probably should just go to therapy, but most of the shrinks seem pretty booked up. Maybe I’ll feel better if I just get some stuff off my chest.
Ok, so there never was a Bush/Saudi royal family pact to lower gas prices before the election?
And the evil Republicans have not instituted a draft?
But they must have stolen old folks Social Security, right?
It’s been over a month now and Bush has still not personally destroyed the ozone layer, cut down every living tree, slaughtered every caribou in Anwar....but then, it has only been a month.
Here’s one, Roe vs. Wade has finally been overturned ladies...oops, no it hasn’t.
Thank God we still have the fact that this is the worst economy since the Great Depression to fall back on, right?
Interesting, I am starting to feel better.....

My new banner...pretty cool, huh? Posted by Hello

A Free Country?

Here is the question of the century... so take a deep breath, sit down, and put your cardiologist on speed dial.

“Why do liberals HATE freedom?”

Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. The only freedoms I can ever remember a liberal willing to fight for are the freedom to kill a fetus and whatever imaginary freedoms the evil Patriot Act steals from them in the dark of the night.
They hate freedom over one’s own money. ‘The government will spend your money better than you, red state, christia-fascist, Nascar loving, meat-eating moron. You are greedy and can’t be trusted with it. So we will take it from you under the threat of jail and give it to the National Endowment for the Arts, NPR, and other more deserving organizations.’
They hate corporate freedom. Just look at the rage over the evil Wal-Mart. ‘Something must be done. They don’t pay a living wage. Treat their employees like slaves. Refuse to unionize. We must make the government step in and fix them good.’
They hate freedom of choice in Social Security.
They hate freedom of choice in schooling.
They hate freedom of choice in taxation(the Fair Tax)
They basically hate any freedom that they feel does not fit neatly into their world view.
Hate freedom of religion when they feel it interferes with their agendas.
Hate freedom of speech when they feel insulted or uncomfortable.
Hate freedom of thought when it does not agree with their own.
Hate freedom of the media, not the New York Times of course, but Fox News, talk radio, and the blogosphere.
Hate freedom in Islamic countries.
Funny to have all this hatred for freedom in a country founded on the individual and personal freedoms. Where does the hatred come from?
I, of course, know the answer. And it is FEAR. Fear of the real world. Fear of responsibility. Fear of growing up. Fear of failure. Fear of incompetence. Fear of the loss of power. Fear of being different.
In the end this is the truth...The enemy of freedom is fear.

B. Goldwater, The Last Freedom Loving American

"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is 'needed' before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents' interests, I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can." --Sen. Barry Goldwater

Where's the Outrage?

Alright National Organization of Women, if you can pull yourselves away from writing essays on how all sex is rape, maybe it’s time for you to step forward and be heard on this from NewsMax.com:

'A survey reported Wednesday by the London Guardian found that women in Egypt, for instance, are regularly beaten by their husbands - and accept that form of torture as a fact of life under Islamic law.
The survey - sponsored by the Egyptian government - found that one woman in three had been tortured at some point by her husband, the Guardian said. "Of those women, 45 percent had been beaten at least once in the past year and 17 percent had been beaten three or more times during the same period."
1. The widespread torture is tolerated under the Shari'a (Islamic law), the Guardian said. The same system permits the abuse and even murder of Muslim women in countries throughout the Middle East.
Reports the Guardian:
"Violent husbands can generally avoid prosecution on religious grounds, because the Egyptian penal code excludes acts committed 'in good faith, pursuant to a right determined by virtue of the Shari'a.'
“Egyptian law also allows men - literally - to get away with murder," the paper said. "If a husband kills his wife in the act of committing adultery, it's only a misdemeanor but if a wife kills her husband for the same reason, then of course that's murder."
But even short of murder, torture of Muslim women is so widespread that it's become an ingrained part of the culture in many Muslim countries.
"Shocking as this may seem, most Egyptian women regard beating as a normal and more or less acceptable part of life," the Guardian said. "Almost 86 percent of the women surveyed thought husbands were justified in hitting their wives sometimes, and a large majority said a refusal to have sex was sufficient grounds for beating."
Egyptian women aged 20-29 told the government survey that spousal torture in the form of beating was acceptable for a range of other domestic "offenses."
70 percent said a beating was justified for "talking back" to a husband.
65 percent thought a beating was warranted if they were caught talking to another man.
42 percent said spending too much money justified a beating.
26 percent said merely burning the dinner could warrant the same kind of physical abuse.'

Makes Abu Ghraib look like small potatoes, huh?

Those Who Do Not Study History are Damned(yes, damned) to Repeat It!

So, we are going to add the Dutch to the list of countries who have jumped on the ‘mercy killing’ bandwagon.

“Dutch health officials are considering guidelines doctors could follow for euthanizing terminally ill people "with no free will," including children, the severely mentally retarded and patients in irreversible comas.”

Sounds an awful lot like this to me:

“In October of 1939 amid the turmoil of the outbreak of war Hitler ordered widespread "mercy killing" of the sick and disabled.
“Code named "Aktion T 4," the Nazi euthanasia program to eliminate "life unworthy of life" at first focused on newborns and very young children. Midwives and doctors were required to register children up to age three who showed symptoms of mental retardation, physical deformity, or other symptoms included on a questionnaire from the Reich Health Ministry.”

Where the hell is the global outrage?

‘Don’t you dare put panties on the heads of killers, but we better kill that little retard before he breeds!’

I’m embarrassed to be a human.
